Just when you think it’s never going to arrive, spring comes in with all its glory. We were beginning to wonder if it was going to snow through to May, but this week is making us put our faith back in Mother Nature.
We have been building all over lately. Last summer and into the fall, the crews were feeling a lot like the old TV western, Paladin, with their motto being, “Have hammer, Will travel”! We’re just finishing a wonderful retirement home on Lake Winnipesaukee. This beautiful home has spectacular views of the lake from every window. With a big stone fireplace and log beams, it has a real Adirondack feel to it. We’ve also just finished another retirement home (I’m feeling a trend here) in Goose Rocks, just above Kennebunkport. This is a unique home nestled in the woods with surprise niches and a wonderful work out room and sauna tucked into the second floor. Their built-in eating area is reminiscent of her grandmother’s house. Quite a nice touch. At the other end of the spectrum, we’re actually in our own city of Portsmouth putting a jewel of an addition onto a young professional’s house. It has blended beautifully with the old existing house but will add so much with a great room with cathedral ceiling, a wonderful craft area and a roof deck to make anyone envious. The kitchen’s getting a makeover too! Then, right across the drawbridge, we’re on Badger’s Island in Kittery with a large and smaller project within 4 houses of each other. The condo project is coming right along. We’ve taken advantage of the most breathtaking views of the Portsmouth skyline and the river and put them together with great floorplans to give these two condos a chance to shine. Wait until you see the kitchens! Our smaller project entails putting a third story onto office condos. It’s always nice to have other projects while we’re in the neighborhood.
The near future brings us back to Kennebunkport to build for a wonderful couple. They remind us of the Prudential Insurance ad because they are building on their Piece of the Rock. And trust me, there’s nothing there but rock! It’s been a blast, so to speak! It will certainly take shape over the summer. We’ll keep you up to date. We are also about to break ground in Hampton Falls for a couple we built for in 1995. They now have 2 children and want more room. Boy, does it make me feel old! It will be fun to build with them again. It will be a wonderful family home with many extras to enhance it. Then once again we will be playing the waiting game with the DEP for a new ocean side house in Moody Beach. What would life be without waiting?
Now that you have all the details, be on the lookout for the OPEN HOUSES that we will have to showcase all these great houses I’ve just described. Paul and I are going to try to give you lots of weekends to see some of these different designs that are now built. So keep a close watch on your email and regular mail for invitations.
