NEWS FROM
THE GREAT ROOM
Even though it’s not officially spring, I decided that we had enough news to warrant a newsletter BEFORE my annual spring letter! The winter has not been as kind as the previous two or three, but we’ve been managing to stay ahead of the weather in most cases. We always seem to build on the ocean in the dead of winter, and this year is no exception. The crew’s dream build would be on the ocean in the middle of the summer – I wonder how much building they’d get done???
So back to the news at hand…we decided to try to have an Open House during the winter. Rob & Carol from Kennebunk were gracious enough to say yes to our request – snowy boots and all. We didn’t quite know what to expect but were absolutely delighted when February 3rd dawned bright and beautiful. People came like it was a spring day outside. We estimate we had nearly one hundred people stop in for a look around. We had a wonderful time – lots of familiar faces and new ones too. Timing is right as many folks are getting a lot more serious about building starting in February.
Our next bit of news concerns The Great Room itself. We have just purchased our “Red House on the Hill” in Portsmouth! For those of you who have never been to our office, The Hill is a group of historical houses that were converted to offices in the 1960’s. Our house was built in 1760. We have been here since 1993 and when the opportunity arose, we decided it was the right thing for us to do. We will be updating the house and doing a few renovations over the next few months. You can keep up with the progress on our web site. As usual Paul has been busy keeping things “up-to-date” as only a webmaster can! Check it out along with new pictures of some of our new projects.
Enjoy the rest of the winter (ugh). Give us a call and come visit us. We’d love to talk about designing and building you a new home!
